For our first story time of the New Year, author Todd Shuster and illustrator Tatiana Gardel visit Greenlight to share their book The First Day of Peace, a moving modern parable highlighting the wondrous power of kindness and sharing. Join us for a reading and drawing activity to kick off story time for the new year.

 

Prospect Park | September 19, 2023 at 6:00 pm

In celebration of International Day of Peace, join Prospect Park Alliance and The Peace Studio for a book reading and signing of The First Day of Peace, a new children’s picture book by Maya Soetoro-Ng and Todd Shuster with illustration by Tatiana Gardel. The event will include a reading of the book by Maya and Todd, alongside discussion and a fun peace-focused craft activity for kids and adults as well as a kids illustration workshop led by Tatiana. A light reception and the opportunity for book purchasing and signing will follow the reading.

 

Books of Wonder | August 20, 2023 at 1 pm

These sweet titles are sure to put a smile on you and your young readers' faces, from cousins learning to play together, to a pair of unlikely friends painting whimsical fish, to two very different groups of people realizing they may not be so different after all, these books are meant to be shared! Join us in store for Ways to Play by LYN MILLER-LACHMANN and Window Fishing by DK DYSON and illustrated by RUDY GUTIERREZ, The First Day of Peace by TODD SHUSTER and illustrated by TATIANA GARDEL, and Good Things by MARYAH GREENE!

2:00 PM - ¡Celebremos! - City Hall - Flagler Gallery | Join Tatiana Gardel, Aixa Perez-Prado, Ana Siqueira, Gladys Jose, and Pablo Cartaya in this celebration of Latinx history and culture, as they share stories and experiences, and how their heritage and rich history influences their work.
